EPL 12/1/2008 - Arsenal vs Birmingham

Now with the potential upset this game might bring, a live commentary or radio telecast might do a whole lot of good for fans of both Arsenal and Birmingham looking forward to the game. Arsenal are facing a whole host of injuries, especially after the Carling Cup semi final with Spurs, and could go into this English Premier League (EPL) game with another six players missing. Of course, out of this six includes the three who would be AWOL due to the African Nations Cup and that includes defensive lynchpin Koulo Toure. One of them, Eboue, won't be missed much as he is practically useless, but it is the three additional Arsenal players that might be on the sick list after the Carling Cup semi final that have struck a blow to Arsene Wenger's title hopes.

Those three players are Robbie Van Persie, Senderos and Djourou. Now Van Persie would be sorely missed no doubt, but you might wonder why the clumsy Senderos and outsider Djourou would be as well. In case you haven't figured out, Arsenal have a shortage of defenders with this scenario. While Senderos isn't really that good, with Toure gone, you need someone to play next to Gallas right? Now Djourou might have been an able replacement for Eboue but he might be out too. So what's left? Who knows. But do not be surprised if during the live commentary, that Gilberto's name be announced as the central defensive partner for Gallas. You might choke next to the live radio telecast, right? What? You're saying he's injured too? Holy moly who would've thought that?

So it remains to be seen what might happen. Will we have Arsenal missing half their first team and lose in an amazing upset to Birmingham? Or will Birmingham remain a sitting duck despite the Gunners' loss? Having seen how Arsenal's second-stringers regularly beat up on other supposedly stronger teams in the Cups, I wouldn't see anything past an Arsenal win against a Birmingham side back struggling despite new manager Alex McLeish's bright start. After all, McLeish is looking to buy a Watford striker for what? FOUR AND A HALF MILLION POUNDS. Ok, tune in to the live commentary of Arsenal vs Birmingham to find out what happens to both teams.
