EPL 19/1/2008 - Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough

Now nobody doubts that this live commentary and play by play match between the two English Premier League (EPL) teams Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough will see a drab affair that features both teams struggling. One who has struggled recently although they did manage a win over Bolton in their last outing, and the other one a perennial struggle unless they meet one of the Big Four. No doubt Middlesbrough had a fine outing against Liverpool last week but then again you would not expect anything less from a typical Boro side that only performs well against the Big Four and struggle against the rest of the league it is no wonder they face relegation battles every season. They have to find a way to translate that Big Four mentality to other teams they face otherwise they will always remain a boring scrappy team with no form or style, even though they do have some decent players like Mido and Downing, but Downing has gotten smarter and he wants out to join Spurs but you still question his choice of a future employer.

Blackburn Rovers enjoyed a recent rare win against Bolton last week and it was an away win to boot. Whether they go on to build another positive streak or remain in the doldrums remains to be seen. Blackburn are an incredibly streaky team but it is with that that Mark Hughes has earned his reputation as a good manager and perhaps this live commentary game might see them build another fine run which should ensure their safety this season. I think Hughes has a formula whereby he ensures safety each season before looking for possible honours but that kind of restricts the potential of the club.

I foresee Blackburn Rovers picking up a single goal win tonight if they can stamp their authority early in the game and then squeeze the confidence out of Middlesbrough. If anything, this would at least offer some excitement to a live commentary between Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough but you know with these two teams, it can quickly descend to another scrappy affair and draw but I am positive about how Blackburn will come out of the gates today to build on their last performance.
